Prodigal Son

Luke 15:21-24 “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.

The story of the prodigal son is a great example of God unconditional love and forgiveness towards us. In spite of the son taking his inheritance and spending it all on wild living, his father fully accepts his son as he humbly returns and the father holds a celebration for him. He didn’t hold it against him and didn’t make him pay it back since it was his money to spend. The father was happy his son had returned. God is the same with us. As we realize our spiritual need for God and admit it to Him, he gracefully accepts us without mention of our past spiritual condition and celebrates our relationship with Him.
